Where is my garden saved?
In this browser, on this device. When you sign in, it also syncs to your account, so the same garden shows on your phone and your laptop. Photos stay on the device where you added them.
How do I set my location?
Open Plan and use the Where step. Type your address, a US ZIP code or a town name. Milpa then looks up your frost dates, your hardiness zone and your daylength.
Outside the US, some of that is estimated from a weather model and some is missing. The coverage page shows what works where.
What do the grade words mean?
Each rule carries a word for how strong its evidence is. Here is what each one means, from strongest to weakest. Every grade word on the site links to its definition.
- Well established
- The rule names its mechanism and is settled, by sources a person has read and checked or by plain arithmetic and geometry.
- Promising
- The mechanism is named and the literature backs it. A few questions are still open.
- A good hunch
- Plausible by its mechanism, but field studies are thin, so treat it as a lean.
- Contested
- The evidence points both ways, so the planner does not enforce it.
- Refuted
- The claim did not survive its sources. It is kept so the folklore can be answered.
Why is a plant team grayed out?
It needs more room than your bed has. Milpa still shows it, says how much space it needs, and points you to the nearest version that fits. It never swaps in a different team without telling you.
How do I switch to Spanish?
Open Account and choose Español under Language · Idioma. The Spanish is a machine translation, and the app says so. If your browser is set to Spanish, Home offers the switch once.
How do I get my data out, or delete it?
On the Log, “export season” downloads that season as a plain text file, with its photos in a zip file beside it.
On the Account page, “delete account” removes your account and every record synced to it. The copy on this device stays, so export anything you want to keep first. The Log can also delete a single garden.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Open it once with a connection and it keeps working without one.
